MÓNICA LAVIN - The Lizard

Mónica Lavin of Mexico, novelist, storyteller, and broadcaster, is the author of Cuentos de desencuentro y otros, Nicolas y los encajes, Retazas, Tonada de un viejo amor, La más faulera, Ruby Tuesday, La isla blanca, and no ha muerto, for which she received the Premio Nacional de Literature Gilberto Owen.

 

PRISCILA UPPAL - Sleepwalking

Priscila Uppal of Canada has published three collections of poetry with Exile Editions: How to Draw Blood from a Stone, Confessions of a Fertility Expert, and Pretending to Die. Her first novel, The Divine Economy of Salvation, has just been published by Doubleday Canada and will be published by Algonquin Press in the US.

 

BETH BARNYOCK - Titles Borrowed from Bull Montana Classic Cinema

Beth Barnyock of Canada is a young poet from Montreal. This is her first published work.

 

TONY VINAGRE - The Smell and the Taste

Tony Vinagre of Canada is a young storyteller from Ontario. This is his first published work.

Janice Kulyk Keefer of Canada has published The Paris-Napoli Express, Transfigurations, Travelling Ladies, Rest Harrow, White of the Lesser Angels, Marrying the Sea, and a memoir, Honey and Ashes.

 

GALE ZOË GARNETT - Broken Things

Gale Zoë Garnett of Canada is both an actor and a writer. Her first novel, Visible Amazement has been published in Canada, the U.S., France and Germany. Her second novel, Pigeons in the Underground, will be published in Canada in 2003.

 

LAUREN B. DAVIS - Dirty Money

Lauren B. Davis of Canada, who now lives in Paris, is the author of a collection of stories, Rat Medicine and Other Unlikely Curatives, and a novel, The Stubborn Season.

 

HELLE HELLE - I Drive Back and Forth

Helle Helle of Demark is the author of the novels Eksemple pa and Hus og hjem, and the story collection Biller og dyr.

 

ALEXANDER MacLEOD - Light Lifting

Alexander MacLeod of Canada has appeared in The Fiddlehead, The Antigonish Review, Grain, The Notre Dame Review and Essays on Canadian Writing.
