Nancy Huston of Canada, with her last novel, Mark of the Angel, was a best-seller in Canada, France, and the UK; she was short-listed for the Giller Prize, and won the Grand Prix des Lectrices de Elle in France. Her other novels are Prodigy, Plainsong, Slow Emergencies and Instruments of Darkness. Dolce Agonia will appear this Fall. Alexander Halvonik of the Slovak Republic is the author of a collection of stories, a re-telling of Tales from the Thousand and One Nights, and a short novel, The Itch of the Blood. Meaghan Strimas of Canada is a young poet. She has published in Contemporary Verse 2 and Signal. Hal Niedzviecki of Canada, the editor of Broken Pencil magazine, a guide to alternative culture and zines, is the author of a short-fiction collection, Smell It, the editor of Concrete Forest; the new fiction of urban Canada, and We Want Some Too: Unacceptable Art and the Reinvention of Mass Culture, and Lurvey, a re-telling and deconstruction of Charlotte's Web.
Joe Morse of Canada has won awards for his illustrations from The Society of Illustrators in New York, Communication Arts, Applied Arts, The Society of Publication Designers in New York, The Society of Newspaper Designers, The Advertising & Design Club of Canada, The National Magazine Awards and has been included seven times in American Illustration. His art is in numerous collections internationally, including Citibank, AT&T Canada, the Goodman & Goodman Collection, Imperial Oil, the Ontario Government and the Royal Ontario Museum.
Austin Clarke of Canada has published nine novels, among them, The Question, The Origin of Waves, and The Prime Minister. He has also published three memoirs, including Growing Up Stupid Under the Union Jack and A Passage Back Home, and five collections of short stories. shannon bramer of Canada is a young poet. Her first collection of poetry, suitcases and other poems, was awarded the 1999 Best Book Award by the Hamilton Arts Council. Her second collection, scarf, will be released this Fall. Peter Holka of the Slovak Republic is the author of many novels including Summer on a Waggoner¹s Horse, Competitor in Jeans, Pirates from Mark Twain, A Normal Nutcase, A Dream About a Dream and The Unforgettable Smell of Ripe Wheat.
