FOUR POEMS

by

The Twelve Spirits of Chaos

1. Know that every day is an opportunity for transformation

lick her flesh with the end of a live wire until her metal nerves

cause the changing of the seasons

wipe your mouth clean

then refresh her memory of how it used to be

2. Hear the voice from above

listen to Joe Strummer and Joey Ramone one more time

before they turn on the war

3. Understand that we are all mirrors

his intention is desire but the accident will occur in the corridor

as he unbuttons your shirt he is confronted with the tragedy

of a very foreign landscape

the scalpel is not so cold against your nipples

4. Trust the creator

close your eyes tight, right at the top of the hill

pedal as fast as you can

whispering gratitude

whispering "holy magnet"

then listen

5. Ask for divine assistance

choking on the juices of a ripe moon you realize the darkness

your bones begin to come undone

the efforts of a single firefly against the monumental absence of light

cause you to fall to your knees begging for sickness

6. Realize that we are all being tested

after you have trampled your neighbour’s lilac bushes

lick the ink drops off the dining room table

coach your children to use scissors

for editing the world

7. Repent with joy

I think this means:

going down the highway smiling is a good thing

after you have run over a dog

8. Be never satisfied

clean the barn over and over

9. Walk like the blind

when you stick a needle in your arm make sure it is made of pure silver,

allow the mercury to ooze slowly into your veins

then step into the traffic (you will find this is akin to falling in love)

10. Use death as a motivation

if you look out your window and see a horizon of voodoo dolls

accept the dance

11. Experience the pain as our own

on enemies, use only the kinds of weapons

you would want used on yourself

12. Don’t judge others

forgive the man who was caught kissing the volcano,

his disfigured lips are his final mistress.
